"RING~!RING~!" I awoke with a start, shocked by the sudden ringing of my handphone alarm. It was a saturday morning and I had tuned the alarm to ring at 9am. You must be thinking,"Why don't you sleep later on a saturday morning, you only get to sleep late on weekends." I would really like to sleep late and wake up at like 12pm? However, I am involved in the Chingay Parade 2009, we were supposd to gather at redhill at 1230 for makeup. MAKEUP!!! The sound of it makes me freak out, imagine all those wierd stuff which are going to be applied onto your faces...I am so not used to it...
So as i was saying, I woke up at 9 am, ate a few oreo biscuits for breakfast and then rushed to catch the MRT heading to Boon Lay. The whole journey was about an hour, however, time passed fairly quickly as i was engrossed in reading a book,"griEVE", it is a really nice book and can be borrowed from any national library.
"Next station, Redhill" upon hearing that, i stood up from my seat and headed towards the doors of the train.Fortunately, not much people were getting on and off the train and i alighted with ease. i checked the time on my phone," 1240 ". All i can think of is," OH no, I am late!!" i did not want to hinder the process of the make up just because i was not present and i did what every victorian should do, be responsible for your own actions. I gave the overall a call and informed her that i would be arriving late.
i ran all the way from the station to TCT, Touch Community Theatre, for the make up, we had to queue up for the make up and i remember the process," blusher,white powder,lipstick,blue paint,eyeliner,glitter,marker" these are just some of the items that were used on my face...and the final product is

After the whole session of makeup, we boarded the bus and headed for the People's Association HeadQuarters for out Chingay Media Preview. Basically, the Media Preview is used for Chingay Commercials and short clips on the website. it is a fulldress rehearsel, complete with all the floats and participants. As our bus drove into the Headquarters, we were welcomed with smiles and laughter and the whole place was bustling with activity, the ambience was wonderful for celebrations as everybody was somehow not themselves, all of them were enjoying themselves, chatting with friends and playing games. My contingent was the Grand Finale, thus we had to wait for about 4 hours before it was our turn to perform, all of us could barely conserve the excitement in us.
Finally!! It was our turn to perform. If you are curious on what we are performing, we are going to be using the powerisers which are equipments which you are to fit your leg in and it has a spring at the base to help you jump high. You can jump to a height of 3metres with this equipment. Lets get back to the scene, oh i stopped at our turn to perform. So, all of us jumped out excitedly, all geared up and ready to perform a good show, we cheered and encouraged each other to attain perfection and that each stroke has to be precise, accurate, sharp and perfect. We reminded each other time and time again that mistakes will not be tolerated.
So, our music plays and we start running and jumping out, the MC of the show shouts and screams in his girly voice and exclaims as he says, " Oh my goodness, isn't it the best you have ever seen?" When we heard that, all of us started to smile as if we had eaten honey of the best quality.
So we rehearsed 2 times and we really put in our best shot and i really feel that we had done really well, all our actions were sharp and united for once .I was really happy that the Media Preview turned out well. The reason being, we had trained close to 3 months now and finally our efforts had bore some fruits. Though at the end of the day, all of us went home with aching legs and sloppy bodies, we all felt that it was satisfying and it was truly an experience we would never forget.
From this Media Preview, i have learnt something, that is, "Whatever you want to achieve, you have to work for it" just like we want to put up a great show for Chingay, we had to train very hard. hardship will definitely bear fruits, the important thing is, do not give up halfway, continue all the way and the results will be delightful...
